What’s more fun than eating chips and cheese? Eating “green chips” and “sprinkle” cheese, of course! Making “green” chips is easy and healthy….all you need is a bunch of green kale, olive oil, and a bit of salt and pepper. To add a cheesy taste, you can sprinkle B12-fortified nutritional yeast on top. We call nutritional yeast “sprinkle cheese” in our house, because let’s face it — that sounds much more appealing to a toddler than does nutritional yeast!
Ingredients:
Bunch of kale
Olive oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Nutritional yeast, AKA sprinkle cheese (optional)
To make:
Pre-heat your oven to 350. Wash, dry and de-stem a bunch of kale. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Spread the pieces onto a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Add salt and fresh ground pepper to taste. Bake until the edges of the kale are crispy and brown, but be sure not to burn your chips! They’ll take about 10-15 minutes, but keep a close eye on them.
Then, serve them to your veggie baby and let them add their own “sprinkle cheese” on top. It’s a fun, easy and healthy snack that is guaranteed to be gobbled up!
